Psycho

Cinematography- An establishing shot is used to set the scene of where the film is set and to show the audience where the film is set.

which is used in the clip.

A close up is also used of when the camera goes into the room where the two characters are. A two shot is also used when the characters are talking to show their facial expressions.

Editing-
The title sequence is edited at a fast pace so that it matches the sound in the background. Shot-reverse-shot is also used while the characters are talking so that you can see the reactions on their faces. An eliptical edit is also used when the women is looking in the mirror to the car following her behind.

Mise-en-scene-
Low Key lighting is used, this gives the impression that the film is scary. The characters are dressed very posh and due to the film been in black and white, it adds tension to what is going to happen. One prop which is in the clip is money, this shows that the man has power and is the breadwinner. The men are also all dressed in suits which show that they are business men and earn alot of money and have a well paid job.

Sound- At the beginning of the film non-diagetic sound is used while the title sequences comes on, the sound is very up-beat and gives a feel that something bad is going to happen in the film. Dialogue is used throughout the first 15 minutes as the characters are talking which will add information to what will happen in the film. Towards the end of the film Diagetic sound is used when the police officer knocks on the car window.

Characters
The women in the film, is very feminine and looks like she cares about her appearance and then a male who is very masculine and shows that he has power and is a business man, you can see this as he is wearing a suit which shows that he has a high well paid job.

 Storyline- Marian has stole some money off her employee and is on the run. She also sees her boss while she is in the car and diagetic sound is used to build up tension. While Marion is on the run the police turn up.

The film is Horror as somebody is killed. Throughout the film low key lighting is used to show that it is scary and dramatic music is used to build up tension
